Thank you everyone for making this a great class. Know that if you have further questions, you can always email us or comment on our blog. Thumper: thumpologist@gmail.com and Karen: ksalvador55@gmail.com
Don’t forget, we’d love for you to join us at Mind to Motion on Friday, December 9th from 2:00-4:00. These are informal get-togethers. We have them every other month or so that are just for fun. It is a great way to check out our studio, meet some of our regular clients, and bring a friend or spouse. We are in the Madera Plaza (Continental Rd and Whitehouse Canyon Rd), Building 518, Suite 150 with a big M2M over our main door.
Here’s the 4th week’s PowerPoint: energy-medicine-class-four_for-blog
Sorry–time got away from me. Here is the PowerPoint with all but some pictures to reduce size.
Again–you are an awesome class. We have a surprise for you on Friday! : )

Love this question! I will incorporate something on this in our next class on exercise. It is from Dr. John Gray, author of Men are from Mars, Women from Venus. His research is in brain science. I will show you the exercise he recommends and no machines are necessary!
http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/QAA400149/balancing-omega-3-and-omega-6.html
The above link comes from Dr. Andrew Weil about the importance of balancing Omega3s and 6s. Omega 6s have an important role in the body, but they also imcrease inflammation. Omega 3s reduce the inflammation. At one time, we had a pretty balanced diet of these two Omegas, but now with processed foods and fast foods, we are getting way too much of the Omega 6s.
How often do you eat hamburgers? Are they fresh or fast food hamburgers? Is the hamburger organic?
Dr. Weil has a link to an anti-inflammatory diet in the website above. Variety is important. 3/4 of the calories on your plate coming from foods high in fiber. And integrate foods high in Omega 3s.
From the research I have found, the best defense for eye health are antioxidants. It is believed that much of the damage done to the optic nerve is from free radicals. The anitoxidant I can find most important for eye health is Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA). And actually, red meat is a rich source of ALA. You also get ALA from blueberries and red wine. This is a special antioxidant because of its versatility. It helps to deactivate an unusally wide array of cell-damaging free radicals in many bodily systems. It also helps to “recycle” vitamins C and E and other antioxidants, enabling them to more effectively do their jobs.
The amino acid that is especially important for eye health is Glutathione. There are many potential benefits from this amino acid, including improving the immune system, but numerous studies link glutathione with the prevention of cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disease, and diabetic blindness. Foods that increase glutathione levels include sulfar-rich foods such as garlic, eggs, asparagus, and onions and glutathione-rich foods such as watermelon, asparagus, and grapefruits. Information came from WebMD and www.eyevitaminhealth.com.
We go to so many specialists for each area of our body, but it all boils down to improving the health of all the cells of our body and we improve our whole body. Really focus on the balance of acidic to alkaline. I also welcome you to fill up jugs of our ionized, high alkaline water that has a very low ORP value, which means it has a high antioxidant benefit.

Above is the link for the PDF format of our PowerPoint presentation today. I will see if I can upload the 2nd Alkaline/Acidic presentation in a 2nd post as well.
Thumper and I are absolutely loving the input and questions from this class. You are awesome!

The link above is the modified PowerPoint from our first class in PDF format. The “meat” (no pun intended) of the information is there, but some slides have been eliminated to meet the upload size requirements.
If you wish to keep a food intake record this week and missed the websites given, they are in the PowerPoint, but I will also give them here:
http://www.sparkpeople.com and http://www.myfitnesspal.com
Remember to bring your printed food journal to week two’s class as well as your questions. If you thought of a question you would like to ask, please put it in a comment on this blog and I will be notified by email that it is here. I will “approve” it and we will answer it and any questions submitted in class within about 24-48 hours. Once you have submitted a comment that has been approved, any further comments by the same person will automatically be accepted.
Thumper and I (Karen Salvador) thoroughly enjoyed everyone’s input. Thank you for a great class!

Myrna knows the value of her health. She worked with me to lose 50 pounds and has strengthened her body to successfully fly through two knee replacement surgeries. She is just another example of getting better, not older.

Americans are on the brink of disaster – a homegrown terrorism called obesity. For the first time in nearly two centuries, children are forecast to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents.
FACT: More than 190 million Americans are overweight or obese.
FACT: Obesity-related diseases are a 147 billion medical burden each and every year.
FACT: Childhood obesity has tripled in the last 30 years.
A new study in the journal, The Lancet, found that there is also a global obesity crisis. In 2008, more than 500 million people worldwide were found to be obese – that translates to one-in-ten adults.
We are living in incredibly stressful times. The media loves it. Our bodies hate it. “Good morning,” the television commentator announces. And then he or she proceeds to tell us why it’s not.
We all handle this bombardment of information in different ways, but sometimes using the same vehicles: excesses in food consumption, alcohol, and prescription drugs are just examples of our refuges. We seek solutions from our healthcare providers not realizing we are a part of the problem…if not the problem. Our healthcare should not be dependent on a government plan. It must rely on a personal plan.
“We have met the enemy and he is us,” was a quote from Pogo, a comic strip character authored by Walt Kelley. He first used the quote on a poster for Earth Day in 1970. How appropriate is that? We are destroying the two things most dear to us in life because of our own abuses.
Modern medicine has entered an incredible era. New diagnostics, new techniques, and new drugs. However, it still focuses on one, isolated element of complex health problems. It still tends to reduce each illness to a single cause. Ridiculous. With all this modern technology we witness obesity beyond parallel, not only among adults, but children as well. Cancers, heart disease, diabetes are increasing at alarming rates. We not only have to ask ourselves why, but how?
Most people are fully aware of exactly what they need to be doing to improve their lives. We should start applying that knowledge and take accountability for our failures and successes. Replace your wishbone with a backbone.
Our Energy Medicine project is not the solution. You are. We just help you to get there by being there for you.
